FOREWORD****Trigeminal neuralgia is a distressing condition that affects a considerable number of patients. Sufferers often describe the agony as an electric shock or intense “puncture” that may last a short moment or several minutes.****Despite its prevalence, this condition is often misdiagnosed and, consequently, inadequately treated. The complexity of this condition gives rise to a multitude of therapeutic options, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages, making it difficult to identify the most appropriate approach for each patient.****This publication is a contemporary review of trigeminal neuralgia and its treatment. Within its pages, the latest advances in understanding this condition, the different types of trigeminal neuralgia and their symptoms, as well as the most current and effective diagnostic techniques and therapeutic options are presented. In addition, practical tools for the treatment of symptoms are provided and the emotional and social aspects of this condition are addressed. We hope that this publication will serve as a valuable resource for all those seeking a deeper and more up-to-date understanding of trigeminal neuralgia, as well as a lucid and precise guide to its therapeutic approach.
