They contain important information on drugs of plant and animal origin. The individual drugs are arranged according to their structure, first the amorphous drugs and then the drugs with an organised structure. In the case of drugs with an organised structure, the focus is mainly on drugs of plant origin. Each drug is characterised by its parent plant or producer, a macroscopic and microscopic description, a brief list of the main constituents and its use in the pharmaceutical industry as well as in other branches of industry. Practical applications of the drug in phytotherapy and folk medicine are an integral part of the book. The worksheets are designed so that students can add their own findings to the text during the practical exercises (drawing of a microscopic preparation, photograph with description, constituents, toxicity data, mechanism of action, possible interactions with drugs, etc.). The electronic worksheets are a study material that complements existing pharmacognosy texts.
