As e-books emerge into the public consciousness, “Open Access”, a concept already familiar to scholarly publishers and academic libraries, will play an increasing role for all sorts of publishers and libraries. This chapter discusses what Open Access means in the context of e-books, how Open Access e-books can be supported, and the roles that Open Access e-books will play in libraries and in our society.

Eric, your work is amazing, really.
I'm work in the Roleplaying games industry (not videogames, the RPG are first books) , and a few weeks ago, I'm at nigth trying to sleep, and I have a "vision".
In my vision (I get up from my bed a write all this idea, like a memorandum), the RPG Books are free for all the people, and all the people that work in the book (that are not only text, have also pictures, complicated layout...) have their income from the work. Obviusly I think on Crowdfunding, and some days later, when I'm reading about the crowfunding, I find you, a you and you team are really Heroes for me.
Thanks for this amazing work, and I hope this have no end, an dyou unglue all books in the world, and your partners buy librarys in all the countrys of the world. Really, thanks
A first version of the epub, plus all the source files, is up on github: https://github.com/Gluejar/open_access_ebooks_ebook
The epub is at https://github.com/downloads/Gluejar/open_access_ebooks_ebook/open_access_ebooks.epub
I still have some improvements to make but I wanted to open this up as soon as I could.
I'll be working on formatting the ebook starting tomorrow. (today, it's launch stuff from morning to night!) With luck, it will be ready next week.
So... how do I get my copy? Nothing here seems to say. The only status is "SUCCESSFUL", and the "Find It: Open Library" link doesn't have it.
Also, by way of feedback, I'm not quite sure what the "(x) Remove This" link above will do, so I'm afraid to click it.
Yay! It's so fitting that the first unglued ebook is one so close to home.
Final total: 36 ungluers, $324.14.
30 Ungluers have pledged $315.64? We have the best users. We really do.
I never understood how important open access is to getting ebooks into libraries until I read Eric's blogs.
