This book, Wheat Research and Utilization, presents some research areas in plant breeding, production, mitigation, and quality. Wheat is one of the key food crops in the world, cultivated in almost every region, and plays a key role in the global economy. About 20% of the calories humans consume come from wheat, one of the major staple crops in more than 40 countries. As the world population and urbanization continue to increase, there is a shift in dietary patterns where easy-to-cook meals such as wheat-based diets are preferred. Wheat production faces challenges due to biotic and abiotic factors that limit production and productivity, and therefore this book focuses on some of the breeding techniques for abiotic and biotic stresses, climate change and global warming, insect pests and diseases, and insights into end-use quality of wheat.
