What is historical justice? This book brings together contributions from historical, legal, theological and archival perspectives, in which the authors venture to approach the topic of historical justice from their points of view and, in doing so, address methodological challenges and new questions: How can we describe in retrospect in a methodologically accurate way what was wrong and what was not? How far-reaching can a concept of historical justice be as a basis for historiographical work? On what theoretical and methodological assumptions is such a concept based? Can ideas of historical justice be applied equally to different epochs? And what role can archives play in this context? The texts cover a period from the 16th to the 21st century.
