In the historiography of the Habsburg Monarchy, the first half of the 19th century has received relatively little attention compared to the preceding reform phase from Maria Theresa to Leopold II or the long reign of Franz Joseph, including the First World War. In order to help closing this research gap between 1792 and 1848, this book focuses on that period and examines the interaction between contributions from the estates and central government demands in the area of military administration in the province of Upper Austria.
