Die Dimension des Künstlerischen ist bisher kaum Gegenstand musikpädagogischer Reflexion. Trotzdem ist sie, wie Matthias Handschick und Wolfgang Lessing nachweisen, für die Initiierung und Moderation gestalterischer Prozesse von erheblicher Bedeutung. Anhand von vier kooperativen Kompositionsprojekten an Schulen zeigen sie, wie um Kriterien und Konzeptionalisierungen des Künstlerischen gerungen wird und sich bestehende Vorstellungen dabei verändern und schärfen. Dabei stellt sich heraus: Als inneres Gravitationszentrum, das musikpädagogisches Handeln nachhaltig prägt, lässt sich das Künstlerische kaum durch alternative Konstrukte ersetzen – auch dort nicht, wo es sich einer konsensfähigen Bestimmung entzieht.
