Stanley Unwin was on of the major 20th Century UK publishers. He first wrote this in the 20s, and revised it several times, eventually including more memoir in The Truth about a Publisher. You can actually see the publishing world change through these several editions. The one he write at the end of WWII -- delayed by paper shortages -- is particularly interesting.
